It's Friday, and that means it's time for the Mountain Monsters update of the week! Mountain Monsters: "Bigfoot of Lincoln County" airs tomorrow, Sat., March 28, 2015, at 10 PM on Destination America. Here's the episode description:
"Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings travel to Lincoln County, WV to investigate the Hellhound who left a bad taste in their mouth after evading them last autumn."
This sounds like it will be like the "Bigfoot of Putnam County" episode which had Bigfoots and Chupacabras. Who knows what will happen this time?
Something in the Woods is a Bigfoot movie that is going to premier at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference in May. The movie is made by David Ford and Tony Odell Gibson, and they say that they made it so all Bigfooters would like it. They didn't go all out and do something crazy; the movie is based on true events and the Bigfoots in the movie do what Bigfoot do - tree knocks, calls, limb formations, all the good stuff.
It seems that lots of people are getting pretty hyped for this movie and hope its good, and I have to admit that I am one of those people. No, its not going to be something like Jurassic Park, but I do think it looks pretty good, for a Bigfoot movie. I am a fan of kinda bad but good horror movies, the Tremors series being some of my favorites(there's a 5th one of them coming out this year, too!) But, if I know one thing about scary movies about cryptids, its that 99% of the time they're horrible! Anyone who's ever watched anything on the SyFy channel will know wh…
Today is Craig Woolheater's birthday. Craig(pictured above holding a Bigfoot track cast) is the founder(along with Loren Coleman) of Cryptomundo in 2005. Craig became interested in Cryptozoology because of the Lake Worth Monster sightings in 1969 and from John A. Keel's book Strange Creatures From Time and Space. The strange thing: John A. Keel was also born on this date in 1930! Craig has also been lucky enough to see a Bigfoot!
I had the opportunity to meet Craig last year at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference at Salt Fork State Park, and I'm glad I did. He is definitely on my list of favorite cryptozoologists.
Recently some photos of north Georgia were sent to Legends Beware on YouTube. These photos show some sort of human-like figure walking through the woods. You can see the pictures below.
What do you think these pictures are? Do they really show a Bigfoot? They could, but I'm not going 100%. I've(like everyone else) learned to be weary of Bigfoot evidence, especially photos and videos, that I see on the internet.
Yesterday I finished Bernard Heuvelmans' classic On the Track of Unknown Animals. This book is pretty much the Bible of Cryptozoology. On the Track originally came out in French in 1955, and came out in English in 1958. The copy I have is the updated 1965 edition with a copy that came out in 1972. The original edition is over 500 pages, but this one is shortened to 300.
Heuvelmans doesn't just discuss animals that are totally unknown, he also goes over animals that were recently discovered at the time and are still used as examples of "discovered" animals today by Cryptozoologists, including the Mountain Gorilla, okapi, and Komodo dragon.
When it gets to unknown animals, Heuvelmans discusses a wide range of critters. Supposedly extinct animals like the moa, tasmanian tiger, mammoth are discussed. At the end of the chapter on the mammoth there is actually an eyewitness sighting from the early 1900s when a man followed huge, mysterious tracks in Siberia(in the middle o…
Monsters and Mysteries in America: "Demon Panthers, Helicopter Crew Meets UFO, Doppelganger" airs tomorrow at 10 PM on Destination America. Here's the episode description:
"Across southern Illinois, townsfolk arm themselves against a demonic feline predator. A teenage girl tangles with a terrifying doppelganger that attempts to take her place. Two police chopper pilots in air combat with a UFO trying to shoot them down."
As always, this sounds like a good one. Be sure to tune in to Destination America tomorrow at 10 PM to check out Monsters and Mysteries in America.
Tomorrow, March 24, 2015, Sasquatch Watch Radio is having Daniel S. Green on the show. Daniel is the author of the new book Shadows in the Woods: A Chronicle of Bigfoot in Maine that came out on the 3rd.
I have not read Green's book yet, but have it and will start it soon. After I finish it will be reviewed on this blog! It looks like a good one, though.
Maybe it's because we call ourselves Bigfooters. If it's not, this could be it. I honestly like the name Bigfooters.
The other day there was a post on Bigfoot Evidence about a sighting TimberGiantBigfoot claimed to have had just a bit earlier. He saw "something" that was white, about 7 feet tall, and not moving. There was a picture of this "something" on the site, and I knew right away that it was not a Bigfoot. Plastic bag, maybe. Well, there was another new post today about the same thing. It turns out that the "something" was actually a big snowman.
This will probably not help the reputation of Cryptozoologists. I just hope this wasn't supposed to be some kind of hoax.
Another question - If the thing TGB saw was just standing there, why didn't he try to get closer to it? Seems suspicious to me. It's pretty obvious by looking at the first picture that whatever was there was not a living animal like a Bigfoot. Also, if you look at the…
Recently some people at Loch Ness saw a strange hump in the water that could have been a Loch Ness Monster. They didn't manage to get any video while the hump was visible but caught it submerging. Here are two pictures from the video.
What do you think? Did these people catch the Loch Ness Monster submerging? Or is it just a wave?
Thomas Finley is the cryptid artist. This guy does some super cool art showing lake monsters and Bigfoot. He posts pictures of lots of his art on the Ohio Bigfoot Conference Facebook page. This is one picture he posted on there today called "Nocturnal."
He posts other Bigfoot art on the OBC page all the time, and has also illustrated some crypto books, including Water Horse of Lake Champlain and Encounters. You can see more of Thomas' cryptid art here.
There's a new Mountain Monsters tonight, and Destination America is having a marathon of shows on all things mysterious leading up to it.

Mountain Monsters: "Mothman of Mason County" is on from 6 PM to 7 PM. Mountain Monsters: "Grassman of Perry County" is on from 7 PM to 8 PM. Mountain Monsters: "Bigfoot of Central Kentucky" is on from 8 PM to 9 PM. Mountain Monsters: "Bigfoot of Putnam County" is on from 9 PM to 10 PM. NEW Mountain Monsters: &quo…
Nick Redfern has a new Mysterious Universe article on the possibility of Bigfoots that live in caves and/or underground. Here's how it starts:
"One of the most thought-provoking theories for Bigfoot's overwhelming elusiveness suggests that the creatures spend a great deal of time living in natural caves and caverns, as well as abandoned, old mines. In the early 1900s, a number of stories surfaced in the Oregon press that, upon careful reflection, just might offer a degree of support for this particularly intriguing theory that Bigfoot is very much a creature of the underworld."
The Minerva Monster movie made by Small Town Monsters is going to premiere at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference on May 16th. I've posted about it a few times before, and it has made its way into several news articles. Seth Breedlove originally came up with the idea to write a series of books on Small Town Monsters, but after being rejected by multiple publishers teamed up with filmmakers, and they are now working on the Small Town Monsters documentaries, the first of which is Minerva Monster. According to the article, Breedlove is already planning a second documentary about another Ohio Monster.
For those who don't know, the "Minerva Monster" was a Bigfoot that was seen near Minerva, Ohio, in 1978. The first sightings occurred when Evelyn Cayton and family saw a hairy, man-like figure outside of their house in late August. On the 20th, the Bigfoot came up to the house and looked in the window. The Cayton's had guns but weren't really afraid; Evelyn felt that it wa…
It's Friday, which mean there's a new episode of Mountain Monsters tomorrow. This will be the third episode of the "Bigfoot Edition", and will be "Bigfoot of Eastern Kentucky." Here's the episode description:
"Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings travel to eastern Kentucky to investigate the Wildman, known as the most dangerous and aggressive Bigfoot in the region. The team searches for a missing eyewitness and builds the largest and strongest trap."
Be sure to tune in to Destination America tomorrow at 10 PM to check it out!
Nick Redfern has a new Mysterious Universe post about the lake monster called Paddler that is said to live in Lake Pend Oreille, in Idaho.
Paddler may seem like any other lake monster, but some people believe that it is actually the government testing out super secret, high tech submarines in the lake. Who knows? That could be true, it definitely is if the MIBs show up.
This is a clip from Sightings in 1995 that features Bigfoot in Ohio. I don't own this video and didn't upload it to YouTube, Henry May did. Researchers featured include Henner Farenbach, George Clappison, Joedy Cook, and Matt Moneymaker. Check it out!
Monsters and Mysteries in America: "Mantis Man, Spottsville Monsters, Tornado Phantoms" airs tonight at 10 on Destination America. Here's the episode description:
"An entire family takes up arms in a rooftop showdown with the Spottsville Monster, a vicious beast with a taste for flesh. Eerie phantoms protect survivors of one of America's most deadly tornadoes and New Jersey fishermen face off with a gigantic bug."
This episode sounds like it's gonna be a good one. Be sure to tune in to Destination America tonight and check it out!
Some of you reading this may have seen the video that recently appeared and supposedly showed a live Dodo bird. If you haven't sen it, you can watch it below.
Real or not? Answer: not. I saw on Cryptomundo today that the video was actually created to raise awareness for endangered animals. If someone was going to do that, why can't the just show endangered animals instead of a Dodo bird? I don't really see how a dodo in the video would help, it didn't make me think about endangered animals at all, it made me think about living dodos.
No, this is not the Ohio Bigfoot Conference hosted by Marc DeWerth that is also taking place at Salt Fork State Park on May 16.
The Annual Bigfoot Conference is taking place from 2 to 8 PM at Salt Fork Sate Park on April 18th. The conference is hosted by longtime Ohio researcher Don Keating. Speakers for the event are:
Todd M. Neiss
Neiss has been actively investigating sasquatch for over two decades. He is in the Oregon Army National Guard and is also a veteran of the Iraq War. He has been on numerous television shows and speaks at various conferences in the US and Canada.
Diane Stocking Neiss
Diane founded "Stocking Hominid Research" in 2007. Like Todd, she has spoken at various conferences and has appeared on television. She became interested in Bigfoot at a very young age and co-authored the cryptozoology book Elementum Bestia in 2007. She lives in Oregon and continues sasquatch research with her husband Todd.
Carl L. Johnson
Johnson has been researching mysterious pheno…
The next season of Survivorman: Bigfoot starts April 3rd adn 10 PM on the Science Channel. You can watch the trailer for it below.
The first season of Survivorman: Bigfoot premiered with two episodes about a year ago. Those two episodes are two of my favorite Bigfoot shows ever, because everything that happens in them is real. And its not just people running around at night screaming and hearing a bunch of sounds you cant hear on camera.
Les will also be in a few new locations this season, which include California and Montana(?) if I remember correctly! Be sure to check out Survivorman: Bigfoot on April 3rd!
Some of you may have seen the video that appeared recently that supposedly shows a live dodo bird. If not, you can click here or watch it below.
I don't really know what to think of this video. It could be real, and it would be amazing if it is, because it would show a living dodo(!), but it could be fake. You can watch the breakdown and decide for your self, and tell me what you think.
Recenty, some hunters in Nova Scotia killed a rare white moose, which you can see above, and that killing has really angered the Mi'kmaq people living there, because they consider the animal sacred. Here is what a Mi'kmaq hunter had to say:
"We know the significance and we've been teaching that to the non-native population for almost 500 years — about the importance that this and other white animals played in our lives," he said. "We are not to harm them in any way, shape, or form because they could be one of our ancestors coming to remind us of something significant that's going to happen within our communities."
It saddens me to see this moose killed. I think we should listen to the Natives more, because they know lots of things)especially about cryptids) that we don't. You can see more on the white moose here.
I would like to thank everyone know who looks at this blog. I now have over 7,000 views! Thank you all so much for checking out Tyler…
There's a new post on Cryptomundo today about Sasquatch footprints discovered in 1988 by John Bindernagel, Sasquatch researcher and author. Cliff Barackman was talking about the tracks and says that some of John's tracks come from the same individual - but they were found 40 miles apart! Tracks like these that come from different individuals show that there is a population of Bigfoot creatures living in North America, ad these creatures can travel long distances.
Bill Brock has a new video of the Team Rogue Mothman investigation in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Places they stop at include the Mothman Museum and the famous TNT Area.
Be sure to watch this video. I've seen part of it and really enjoyed it. Bill Brock's a cool guy. I'm glad I'll be meeting him in May!
Brock also posted on Cryptomundo recently that they will be having a free campout at the TNT Area in May and anyone is welcome to attend. He also said that they might know what the Mothman really is......
The second episode of Mountain Monsters: Bigfoot Edition, "Bigfoot of Putnam County", airs tomorrow night at ten on Destination America. Here's the episode description:
"Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings travel to Putnam County, WV to investigate the chupacabra, aka the West Virginia Vampire. The team must meet with eyewitnesses and build an elaborate maze trap in an attempt to capture the creature."
There's also a preview of the episode you can see here. A man claims to have video evidence of the chupacabra.
I don't really know what to expect in this episode. It sounds like it will have Bigfoot and chupacabras involved in some way. Be sure to tune in to Destination America to check it out!
Monsters and Mysteries in America: "Carolina Reptile Man, Succubus, Napa Rebobs" airs tonight at 10 on Destination America. Here's the episode description:
"A cold-blooded reptilian beast preys upon unsuspecting campers along the South Carolina coast. A seductive succubus with a taste for terror targets a young rock musician. A mad scientist's monstrous flying monkeys unleash their wrath upon Napa Valley."
I know that Lyle Blackburn will be on this episode. It sounds like its gonna be a good one. Be sure to tune in to Destination America tonight or record it!
The video above purportedly shows a live Dodo. You can see the bird behind the log at first, and then it can be spotted several more times in different places. Various other crypto websites have already posted about this video, and now I've finally gotten around to it. What do you think it is? Is it a real living Dodo? Some have said it is fake, but I think it may be real.
Nick Redfern has a new Mysterious Universe article about surviving prehistoric animals. It's not your normal "plesiosaurs survived extinction" thing, though - its about ghosts! Redfern discusses some other researchers who have investigated things that look like pterosaurs, but they are said to be ghosts. He also goes into the Loch Ness Monster, but you can read the article to see that.
This is kind of getting into the "explaining something unexplained with something else that's unexplained" thing, and most researchers will probably not like that. I think it's pretty interesting, though.
There's some big fish living in Lake Iliamna in Alaska. The lake is definitely big enough to hide a species of lake monster - it covers 1,033 square miles! The depth of most of the lake is about 660 feet, but at some spots it gets more than 1,000 feet deep. It was described by cryptozoologist Ivan T. Sanderson as being more of an inland sea.
The monsters in Lake Iliamna are usually described as being giant fish - they are said to be up to 30 feet long, are grayish in color, and are sometimes said to have a white stripe down their backs. The native Tlingit people living around the lake told stories of giant fish called Gonakadet. The Aleut people also told stories of the Jig-ik-nak. They said the Jig-ik-nak lived in groups and attacked canoes and killed the people in them. The Aleut feared the fish and did not hunt them.
In the 1940s and '50s pilots flying over the lake started reporting seeing huge, aluminum colored fish. One sighting occurred when Babe Alesworth and Bill Hamm…
There's a new Sasquatch book out from Coachwhip Publications called Shadows in the Woods: A Chronicle of Bigfoot in Maine. The book is by Daniel S. Green and is currently the #1 seller in primatology on Amazon.com. The description says the book is about Bigfoot stories in Maine from pioneer times to today, and there must be a lot, because the book is 522 pages long!
I think this books sounds like it is pretty good. If you like Bigfoot and are interested you can check it out here.
There are a lot of cryptozoology conferences coming up in 2015. These conferences include the Florida Skunk Ape Conference, Creature Weekend, Ohio Bigfoot Conference, Mothman Festival, and others. I have the list of all these conferences with the dates in a list on the right.
Now news is already out for the first cryptozoology conference of 2016. It is the International Cryptozoology Museum Conference, and it is taking place in St. Augustine, Florida. St. Augustine is the site where a huge globster octopus washed up in 1896. The event is taking place from January 4-6. Loren Coleman posted on his blog CryptoZooNews yesterday, and said people can now get tickets. Tickets are limited to 150 ONLY!
Speakers so far include Michel Raynal, Loren Coleman, Jerome Hamlin, Paul LeBlond, Kathy Strain, Pat Spain, and Robert Robinson. More speakers will be announced later this year.
You can also sign up if you want to be a vendor at the event, but there is a limit of ONLY 10. There are also 40 VIP …

Yesterday I finished Loren Coleman's 2003 book Bigfoot! The True Story of Apes in America. I'm a fan of all of Coleman's books, and this is actually the first of his I've read in about a year and a half. I really enjoyed this book, and actually read the whole thing in about a week. The book is really a history of Bigfoot in the United States. Of course it talks about the Bluff Creek footprints and the Patterson Film, but Coleman goes into all kinds of other things in the Bigfoot world, too.
Like I said earlier, I really enjoy all of Loren's books. They really are some of the best. Bigfoot! was just as good as all the rest, and it really is one of the best Bigfoot books ever, in my opinion. Coleman's latest book was Monsters of Massachusetts that came out in 2013, and he has a few new ones coming out this year, including Loren Coleman's Cryptozoology, Beyond Bigfoot, and the International Cryptozoology Museum Journal.
I would defiantly recommend Bigfoot! …
There is a Bigfoot event going on today at Cabela's in Wheeling, West Virginia. The event is Strange, Rare, and Unusual Sightings and is taking place today and tomorrow. The event is free and open to all ages. Speakers include the "squatch detective" Steve Kulls, Dave Dragosin of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society, Doug Waller of the Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigation(SOSBI), Billy Willard of Sasquatch Watch of Virginia & Sasquatch Watch Radio, Stan Gordon, and Jeff Meldrum.
Seminar presentations started at 10 AM today and will go on until 4 PM. The schedule is the same for tomorrow. If you're near Wheeling, WV this weekend be sure to check out the event!
Destination America's #1 show EVER, Mountain Monstsers, is returning for season three THIS SATURDAY!!! The first part of the season will be a special "Bigfoot Edition", when the AIMS Team is after the many different Bigfoots in Appalachia, including creatures like the "Midnight Whistler", and the Kentucky Bigfoot, which is featured in the premier.
Finding Bigfoot is currently filming another season, and in April they will be in Maine. There town hall meeting sounds like its gonna be a good one - they're having it at the International Cryptozoology Museum!
It's time for yet another update on my book Cryptid U.S. In the last post about the book I mentioned that I am almost ready to publish it. Today, I received my proof copy of the book. I have found a few errors to fix, which I will probably do this week or weekend, and hopefully the book will be out within a week or two! You can see what the book will look like below…!
