Oregon left out on "Best States for Bigfooting" List

USA Today apparently interviewed the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization (GCBRO) of the show Killing Bigfoot(which I have not watched yet) and asked them what they thought the "top states for Bigfooting" were. They said Northeast Louisiana, east Texas, which I agree with, Southeast Oklahoma, which I also agree with, Mississippi, Arkansas(I agree with), Georgia, Washington State(yes), and Northern California(yes.) One state that has had many many bigfoot reports is left out, however, and that is Oregon! It doesn't really make much sense to me why they left Oregon off, it probably has more Bigfoots than some of the states they listed. In my opinion Ohio should be on there, too, and not just because I live here. Ohio has a lot of Bigfoots, especially in Salt Fork State Park, which is known all over the world by Bigfoot researchers.

To see more about the GCBROs list, click here or here.

I do have one thing to say to the GCBRO: DON'T KILL BIGFOOT!

Yes, I'm on the…

Happy Halloween!

It's the day of monsters today. I know lots of TV channels will probably have shows about ghosts and hauntings on, but there are also some about cryptids on!

I know that there will be some shows about ghosts and paranormal stuff on Destination America today, and there are some episodes of Mountain Monsters on this evening, which I will be watching.

I also got this yesterday....

It came just in time for Halloween. I'll start reading it after I finish Raincoast Sasquatch by J. Robert Alley, and then I'll review it on this blog.

To see more about the goatmen seen all over the USA click here.

Happy Halloween everybody!

Thom Powell is working on a third Bigfoot book

Thom Powell, author of the 2003 book The Locals, is working on a third bigfoot book. He is also the author of Shady Neighbors.

The Locals sold out during its first printing, and everyone has always said that it is a really good bigfoot book. I got it back in August, and, I must say, it is!

Bigfoot Screams

The first video is the Bigfoot vocalizations called the "Sierra Sounds", the second is the "Ohio Howl", and the third is from Finding Bigfoot.
A new season of Finding Bigfoot premiers on Animal Planet on November 9. I know they will be in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Scotland this season!

The Butler Gargoyle

A strange, moth man-like creature seen in Pennsylvania is called the Butler Gargoyle.

"In late June, 1993, a man named John, his girlfriend, his son, and his son’s fiance were driving near Allentown, Pennsylvania. They went up to an area called Baker’s Point to look back at the town. As they slowed down and turned around, they spotted a creature that was totally out of the ordinary. They described the being as about six feet tall, with arms and legs, and wings. The body was covered with fur. The creature had a protruding jaw. The legs were very muscular. They creature walked right past the car and did not seem afraid at all. When it got to some trees on the other side of the road it took off and flew away. "

This post is excerpted from a book which I am currently working on.

Alaska Monsters Season 1 Reviewed

Destination America's Alaska Monsters ened about two weeks ago. The first season had six episodes, just like the first season of Mountain Monsters did. The Midnight Suns team hunted creatures such as Bushman, the Alaskan Tiger, the Northern Giant, the Saberwolf, Kushtakaa, and the Southern Sasquatch.

I have started to like the show more after watching the whole season, its the same think I did with Mountain Monsters last year. Alaska Monsters is a pretty good show, but I still like Mountain Monsters better, and they are going to have a third season next year!

Patterson-Gimlin Film: 47th Anniversary

Today is the 47th anniversary of the day when Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin filmed the Bigfoot known as Patty in Bluff Creek, California.

Bob Gimlin is still alive today and is doing fine. I had the chance to meet him earlier this year at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference.

The Texas Bigfoot Conference is TOMORROW!

*For more on the 2014 Texas Bigfoot Conference, click herehere, or here.*

The Original Texas Bigfoot Conference is happening on October 18, 2014, which is tomorrow!

The speakers for the event are listed below:
Lyle Blackburn
John Kirk III(who will also be a speaker at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference next year!)
Ken Gerhard
Nick Redfern(To check out Nick's review of the 2014 Mothman Festival Click here.) Rob Riggs

The speaker lineup for the event is great.... looks like it will be an awesome event. Too bad I don't live in Texas or I'd be going.

That's one big crab

Recently this picture of a giant crab appeared on the internet.

I'm not saying I think the picture is real, it's probably a hoax.

But, if it is real, that sure is one big crab!

Here's the picture:

Supposedly, the man who took the picture thought that the thing was a sand formation shaped like a crab. He also claims to have sighted the giant a year ago when he took his son crabbing. He thought it was a large piece of driftwood, but realized that it was alive. And it was huge.

The picture seems to show a crab like the ones people eat, which can grow to 10 inches. This crab, however, is about 50 feet!

The largest known species of crab is the japanese spider crab that can grow to be twelve feet long.
I've seen these crabs before and they do get quite large.
A marine Biologist has said that the giant crab featured in this post is a hoax because no crab can grow that large. But, who knows? We know more about the moon than we know about what lives in the deep ocean, so maybe …

SasWhat: The Ohio Bigfoot with Mark and Marc

SasWhat: A Podcast About Bigfoot

Recently Ohio Bigfoot Researchers Markc Dewerth and Marc Maisel were on SasWhat. They talked about how they both got interested in Bigfoot, how they got involved with the BFRO, and the Ohio Bigfoot Conference.

I've gone to one of Marc's Bigfoot lectures before and must say that he is a very entertaining speaker.

To listen to the podcast click the link below.

New Season of Finding Bigfoot Next Month!

I saw on Animal Planet yesterday that the new season of Finding Bigfoot will come on November 9th! From the preview it looks like it is going to be a pretty good season… I know that they are going to be in ohio, Pennsylvania, and Scotland!

Who else is excited? Maybe they'll actually see a Bigfoot this time.

They could start doing things like the people in the 2002 documentary Bigfootville did. Bigfootville is my favorite show on bigfoot and one of my favorite of all shows about unexplained things. The people in the show actually saw Bigfoot, twice while filming!

River Monsters and Other Crazy Creatures - Cryptid U.S. is almost here!

Starting in the 1930, a strange creature began being seen in Arkansas' White River:

"The next sighting occurred in 1937, when a local farmer named Bramblett Bateman saw the monster. This is his story:

'On the first of July, 1937, I was standing on the bank of the White Rive at about one o'clock, and something appeared in the river about 375 feet from where I was standing. From the best I could dell at that distance, it would be about 12 feet long and four to five feet wide. I did not see the head nor tail when it rose to the surface. It stayed in that position for five minutes. It did not move up or down the river, but afterward I have seen it move up and down the river, but never have I been able to determine the full size of the creature. Two weeks ago from this date, September 22, 1937, I saw the thing upstream about 200 years from where I first saw it. At this time the monster was in the current of the river, all the times before it had been in the eddy.'

Cryptid U.S. Cover

Here is the first preview of the cover of my book Cryptid U.S. which should be published very soon in the program I was working on didn't mess up my work again that I have been working on all day. If every thing is fine I should get it downloaded onto CreateSpace tomorrow, hopefully. Fingers crossed.

I'll be posting more previews of the book and will tell all y'all when it comes out.

Keep your eyes open for anything strange,

The Devil lives in New Jersey

"Several other people also found tracks on Sunday, and one woman declared 'It's a two-legged cow with wings!'"

The Jersey Devil is the name of a strange cryptid creature seen in New Jersey and surrounding states. the creature is described as having a serpent body, hooved feet, a serpent tail, a horse head, two short front legs, which it does not walk with, and wings.

"There are many variations to the story of the creature's birth,  but the most common one to hear revolves around a 'Mother Leeds. ' in 1735. Mrs. Leeds was unhappy about having a thirteenth child, and cursed it, saying 'Let this one be a devil!' When the baby was born, it sprouted wings and flew up the chimney, to live the rest of its days in the pine barons. Some accounts say the Jersey Devil killed Mrs. Leed's nurse, some say it killed her, but others say his first meal was a few children in the woods."

Karl Shuker has a new post on his ShukerNature blog about his new book, The Menagerie of Marvels, which will come out later this year!

He will be posting previews between now and when the book comes out(around Christmas) and the first preview was the cover art, which features a wooly mammoth, two terror birds, and a nandi bear.

This book looks like it's gonna be awesome!

Nick Redfern Reviews the 2014 Mothman Festival

The Mothman Festival was last month, as those of you who have looked at this blog in the past month would know.

Nick Redfern was a speaker at the festival, and you can find his review of it here. It sounds like it was a pretty cool event.

I didn't make it down to the Mothman Festival this year(maybe I will next year- fingers crossed) but we did go down to the Mothman Museum in Pt. Pleasant in late August. When we were down there I got the chance to meet Jeff Wamsley, author of the books Mothman: The Facts Behind the Legend and Mothman: Behind the Red Eyes.

Joedy Cook was also a speaker at the festival and has a new book on moth man out called Mothman Casebook. You can see my review of that book here.

To see Nick's review of the event, click here to go to Nick Redfern's World of Whatever.

Goatman: Flesh or Folklore?

Goatman: Flesh or Folklore is an all new book by J. Nathan Couch. The book covers reports of "goatmen", half-human, half-goat monster(basically satyrs) all over the country. Some of the creatures in the book include the Sheepsquatch, Lake Worth Monster, the Pope Lick Monster, and many others.

For more on the book, click here to go to Nick Redfern's World of Whatever.

The Lake Worth Monster is also discussed in my book Cryptid U.S., which is almost finished and ready to be published.

"Nature's Secret Agents" Reviewed

A while back I read Nature's Secret Agents, a 1999 book by Tom Burnette, who also wrote Bigfoot: Exploring the Myth and Discovering the Truth Rob Riggs.

Tom claims that Bigfoots live on his property in North Carolina. This book is his story of how he has interacted with the bigfoots. It is kind of like a diary, with different days put in and what happened on those days.

The parts of the book that are actually on Bigfoot are pretty interesting… but it is mainly the same thing over and over. Tom goes and puts food out for the big foots. Things happen in the day. Next day. tom puts out food for the big foots. Repeat. Some parts Tom just talked about himself and I learned some things about him I didn't need to nor wanted to know.

All in all, I'd probably give this book about a 3/5 stars. It's rare for me to give a cryptozoology book less than a five(as you who have read my other book reviews on here will know) but I'm not saying it was bad, it was interesting in parts.…

The International Cryptozoology Museum Journal

The International Cryptozoology Museum of Portland, Maine is now going to have a new journal coming out next year. The museum's director is Loren Coleman, author of many cryptozoology books, including Cryptozoology A to Z(with Jerome Clark), Mothman and Other Curious Encounters, Mysterious America, Curious Encounters, Monsters of Massachusetts, Tom Slick and The Search for the Yeti, and many others.

The journal will only be one of the many that have been published on cryptozoology. None have lasted forever, though. The journal Cryptozoology was published from 1982 to 1996.

Karl Shuker's The Journal of Cryptozoologycame out in 2012 and will have ten issues come out no matter sales. Two of those are currently out, and the third will likely come out later this year.

Here's part of the post from Loren Coleman's blog CryptoZooNews:

"The International Cryptozoology Museum is delighted to disseminate the news of a new journal about cryptozoology, built on the history of…

ShukerNature: Thunderbirds and Piasas

Karl Shuker has a new post on his ShukerNature blog about two winged american monstrosities: the legendary Thunderbird and the giant Piasa. Some cryptozoologists think that both of these creatures are the same thing, but many also think that the Piasa is just an indian legend. Thunderbirds, on the other hand, are still seen today.

The article mainly discusses a possible Thunderbird feather. It starts like this:

"Cryptozoologists are familiar with the longstanding mystery of the missing thunderbird photograph, but what about an alleged thunderbird feather?
Interviewed recently by Tucson-based freelance writer Craig S. Baker for an online article on unsolved mysteries of the Wild West (click here), veteran Wild West author/investigator W.C. Jameson made a claim of considerable potential significance to cryptozoology regarding the legendary thunderbirds.
Jameson stated that a Cherokee treasure hunter he once knew told him that while looking for a long-lost cache of Spanish silver in a …

"Pepie: The Lake Monster of the Mississippi River" Reviewed!

Pepie: The Lake Monster of the Mississippi River is a newer book by Chad Lewis and Noah Voss. The book came out in june and is about the monster in Lake Pepin, called Pepie. Reports of Pepie go back to pioneer times and continue until today. There is even a $50,000 reward for the creature's capture, but no one has claimed the reward yet.

The first part of the book is about the history of Lake Pepin. Lewis discusses Indian legends about the monster and more recent happenings, like steamboat wrecks and the invention of water skiing.

The next part of the book covers sightings of the monster. The sightings start during pioneer times and continue till today. The authors also discuss their two expeditions to lake Pepin in 2011 and 2013 to search for the monster. The last part in that section is about other sightings of monsters in the Mississippi River.

The last part of the book discusses theories of what Pepie could be. The throes range from a log, snapping turtle, plesiosaur, some oth…

The Lake Worth Monster Bash is Tomorrow

The Lake Worth Monster Bash is happening tomorrow, October 4, from 10AM to 2 PM, at the Fort Worth Nature Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The event will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Lake Worth Monster sightings in the summer of 1969.

The monster was commonly called "The Goatman" but some witnesses said it looked like a white bigfoot. Maybe it was albino.

Cryptozoologist Lyle Blackburn will be speaking about the Lake Worth Monster at 11 AM and 1 PM tomorrow. Lyle is the author of the books The Beast of Boggy Creek: The True Story of the Fouke Monster and Lizard Man: The True Story of the Bishopville Monster. He is currently working on a third book about Sasquatch in southern states. Lyle will also be a speaker at the Texas Bigfoot Conference on the 18th.

There is also a book out about the Lake Worth Monster, which has the creature's name as the title. The book was written by Sallie Ann Clarke when the monster was being spotted around Lake Worth. It is partly fiction…

Japan's Loch Ness Monster - Issie

Of course this lake monster is nicknamed after Scotland's Nessie, I mean, which one isn't? Well, there's actually a lot that aren't… Champ, Ogopogo, Rocky, and some other ones.

Japan's monster is Issie, who is said to live in Lake Ikeda. The monster was first spotted in 1978 and a man claimed to have caught the creature on film later that year.

For more, click here.

And to those who click the link above to go to Bigfoot Evidence, yes, I did know Japan had its own lake monster, 'cause I saw it on Destination Truth.
